SUPERMAN 694

After a visit to Smallville, Ma Kent presents Mon-el with his new crappier
costume. Amazing. The person credited in continuity with one of the
all-time classic costumes, that of Superman himself is new credited with the
absolute worst costume design Lar Gand has had in any incarnation in his
nearly 50 year comic book career. Bring back the tunic withi the puffy
sleeves please! Anyway, Mon returns to battle in the new costume just in
time to battle Bizarro. His powers go on the fritz just in time for another
villain to enter the fray. Meanwhile Mon-el's friend Mitch, introduced in
one of the Annuals I believe, is revealed to be another disguised
Legionnaire when he rescues a child trapped in a burning car during Mon-el's
battle with Bizarro, joining SP officer Wilcox in the hidden Legion
category. It's a Legionnaire I personally did not expect to see again,
knowing his post-Legion career as we do.

Until next time,

I can't see that outfit without thinking of Kara's 1970s getup. Major,
major "ewww" factor. (Thank goodness Ma avoided the plunging neckline.)

We don't really "know" anything about his history any longer, do we? From
Lo3W and FINAL CRISIS, we appear to know that the most pivotal event in
his previously-known life doesn't seem to have actually happened any
longer (else, how would that thing still exist?); his incapacitation,
recovery and generally changed outlook on life that lead him down his
post-Legion career may very well have been completely handwaved away.

(Man, that's a tough sentence to write without spoilerifying a story
nearly three decades old at this point in order to avoid spoilerifying a
current one.)
