Why did Marvel hire him back? The last time he was there, he bailed on a
title after only one issue.

They have a contract on him this time. Which title was it? Could be
the writing was crappy and the editor sucked.

It was the Avengers/Thunderbolts mini-series that relaunched Thunderbolt.
Barray redesigned Atlas' costume so he'd have a giant A on his forehead but
in flesh color.

I have seen the cover for Barry's new title The Order. All the costumes
have a giant Cs on it because it was previously titled The Champions.

It was the Avengers/Thunderbolts mini-series that relaunched Thunderbolt.

That was the other side of "work for hire". At the time DC signed
Kitson to an exclusive contract so he had to abandon the miniseries.
Timing was unfortunate but it was just part of the business.
