I'm working on a picture of him and I was trying to make the green
thing on his chest. And then I realize I have no idea what that's
supposed to be. Anyone know what that shape is? I thought it was a
bird, but then in the waid-kitson run it looked more T shaped so I
have no idea. Also, i don't knwo what a bird has to do with him. Do
they ever explain what that is?

Thanks for the help, guys!

I've heard variously that it's a symbolic representation of the
Ultra-Energy Beast that gave Jo his powers, and the "green dragon" that was
an alias he went under on Rimbor at one point.

Dave Van Domelen, not a "real" beast in any case.

I also seem to recall a retelling of his origin that implicitly
made it a takeoff of an outfit Marla Latham wore when Marla was
mentoring Jo. (Which doesn't explain what the symbol is, but kicks
it back a level, since it doesn't have to mean anything to Jo other
than referencing Latham. I don't think we ever got enough
background on ML to know why *he* was wearing it.)

Actually, no. In Superboy (I) 98, Ultra Boy's origin, Marla had a DIFFERENT
symbol on his chest. Otherwise, he wore the exact same costume as Ulta Boy

... specifically so that Superboy's X-ray vision could detect it and realize
he was also from the future.

Which were more or less the same thing anyway.

LORELAI: I am so done with plans. I am never, ever making one again.
It never works. I spend the day obsessing over why it didn't work
and what I could've done differently. I'm analyzing all my shortcomings
when all I really need to be doing is vowing to never, ever make a plan
ever again, which I'm doing now, having once again been the innocent
victim of my own stupid plans. God, I need some coffee.
